CITY LIFE COLLECTION
Created by JP Laklin
“City Life” is a series of realistic paintings created by Joanna Cislak and Peter Blindt under the name JP Laklin. The name is derived from the J and P in their first names – and then taking the “Lak” from Cislak – and the “lin” from Blindt.
It is very rare for artists to be able to combine their talents and vision for works of art – but the results here are clearly apparent. These works have depth and resonance. The subjects for each of the paintings were caught by the artists themselves of people in action in the city. Each of these pieces was rendered with many layers of detailed work that yields a result beyond the mere capture of “realism” – they also capture that emotion that is at the essential core of each of the subjects. Whether in black and white – or in full color – any of these paintings will add to the harmony of your collection.
Black and White City Life paintings
The black and white city life paintings are realistic renderings of people that we discovered going about their day in various parts of downtown Chicago. We felt that we captured the essential moment by working together in a sort of "conversation". The back-and-forth - and also the give-and-take - as each character developed in stages was a pleasure to be a part of. We paint in mostly thin acrylic layers that allow us to develop the work in somewhat of a similar way to a sculptor. The difference is that we take turns with the tools. It was a joyful experience to watch as each of these subjects gained true "realism" - and even a bit of character - as we worked on them.
