JP Laklin & the story behind the abstract rings
“Laklin” is the signature for the collaborative works of Joanna Cislak and Peter Blindt. Their collaborative works-of-art are created under the pseudonym “JP Laklin” (Joanna & Pete). The “Lak” comes from the last three letters of “Cislak” and “lin” from the middle of “Blindt”. Whether creating realistic paintings – or abstract – the couple works together inviting each other’s touch and ideas in the process of creating each work.
In this collaborative series, which focuses on abstract rings as the main characters, other geometric shapes play a very important role in supporting the fabric of the compositions. Subtle and somewhat primitive rectangular and square shapes lie just beneath the surface – often in an “irregular” and natural condition. Many of these shapes only become apparent as the viewer takes the time to engage with the composition. The more subtle shapes and ideas lie several layers beneath the surface and (we hope) give the composition a kind of resonance and sophistication.
The combined attempt for both of the artists - in this series - is to merge both primitive and modern elements into a harmonious, post-geometric entity.
